Who is Lael Brainard?
Lael Brainard was born on 1st January 1962 in Hamburg, West Germany. She is an American economist who grew up in West Germany and later Poland in the period before the Revolutions of 1989 and the fall of the Berlin Wall. She has been serving on the Federal Reserve Board of Governance since 2014. She is the daughter of the U.S foreign-service officer and diplomat Alfred Brainard and her mother Joanne Brainard.

And on 23rd December 2009, the Senate Finance Committee approved her to become the “Treasury Department’s top global diplomat, a job that would give her a key role in the bid to push China towards a flexible currency”.
She had a great career as she once again gets nominated to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in January 2014. And yet again on 12th June 2014, she gets elected by the Senate by a vote of 61-31.
She has also been the co-editor of books such as “Climate Change and Global Poverty: A Billion Lives in the Balance”, ” Too Poor For Peace?”,” Offshoring White-Collar Work”. She is also the editor of books like ” Development Landscape: the Role of the Private Sector” and “Security by Other Means: Foreign Assistance, Global Poverty and American Leadership. And she is the co-author of “The Other War: Global Poverty and the Millenium Challenge Corporation”.
