He is an American Basketball player who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA, the premier basketball league in the world. Kuzma was a young prodigy during his time with the Utah Utes and he was the 27th overall pick in the 2017’s NBA draft. He did not get the chance to play with the Nets who drafted him though. He was quickly traded to LA.
After the draft, he was traded to the Lakers and this is where he made his mark. Right from the start, Kuzma became a star in LA. He played good and earned a spot in the NBA All-Rookie first team. Kyle was an integral part of the team led by Lebron James who picked up the championship with a 2 game lead over the Miami Heat.

Who is Kyle Alexander Kuzma?
Kyle Alexander Kuzma was born on July 24 1995. He was raise in Flint, Michigan and he is the son of Karri Kuzma. In his family, he has a younger half-siblings Andre and Briana. As we discussed earlier, Kyle is biracial.
Kuzma has a really shaky relation with his father though. He met him once as a child so, his only father figure was Larry Smith, his step father. Kyle had a toy basketball as a kid and this was when he developed his passion for the sports.
The city of Flint, as Kyle describes it, was a violent place where the streets ruled. But he did not let the temptation of the street get to him by focusing on Basketball.
Kuzma went to the Swartz Creek Community school as a child and later transferred to Bentley High School in Michigan. He played Basketball in highschool and had an average of 18 points per game. He had 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks per game as a Junior which is impressive.
Kuzma send his tapes to different schools and was approached by different coaches in Philadelphia. Rise Academy got him where he averaged an impressive 22 points a game and 7 rebounds. Later, he got offers from Division I schools in Iowa, Tennessee, Missouri, Connecticut and Utah. Kyle decided to go with the University of Utah.
In terms of relationships, Kuzma is a very private person who doesn’t really speak that much. He really has no real interviews where he has talked about his love interests. We believe he might be in a relationship but he might have kept it secret. He was also reported to be in a relationship with a women named Sophia Jamora but it has not been confirmed yet.
Kyle’s Basketball Career
Kuzma enrolled at the University of Utah in 2003 and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Sociology. Since he played University Basketball, he was eligible for the 2017 NBA draft and was picked at the number 27th that year by the Brooklyn Nets. But his future did not come with the nets.
LA saw the potential of young Kyle so, they got him from the Nets. He was traded on the very nigh to the Lakers in exchange for D’Angelo Russell.
After this rookie season in 2017-18, Kyle was put in the NBA All-Rookie team which is a huge achievement. He also played seven out of 8 games for the Lakers and started in six of those games in the NBA summer league. He was a really consistent member of the team and was revered as a really good talent going forward.
HKyle was then put in the All-Summer league second team after a record average of 21.9 points per game and almost 3 assists a game. This also came with 1.4 blocks, 1 steal and around 7 rebounds a game. He made his real mark when he put 30 points and 10 rebounds in a 110-98 win over the Portland team in the Championship Match. This made him the MVP of the summer league championship.
Later he was also named the Rookie of the month for Oct/Nov while playing in the Western Conference. He played 20 games and scored 330 pts, 120 rebounds and had 30 pointers in two games which were his debut games. After the end of the season, he was finally put in the All-Rookie first time.
Currently, Kyle ears around $3.1 million from the NBA alone. This is just the contract money that the Lakers gave him. He is the 9th best paid player in the team. Kuzma’s net worth is $3 Million dollars as of 2021 so, he is definitely doing great in his career.
Relationship with his biological father
Kyle has close to no memory of his biological father but this doesn’t affect him one bit. His step dad, Larry Smith was the only father figure he had. Kyle installed a hoop in the living room and he grew up practicing basketball there.
Kyle has said that the lack of his biological father in his life did not have that much effect on him. He says it’s not a big deal because he had Larry with him. Larry was the first person to teach Kyle basketball so, Kyle is really close to his Stepfather. Although his relationship with his biological father is also okay, they are not really that close to each other.
