Billie was born on December 18th, 2001 in Los Angeles. She is the daughter of John Eilish and Delaney Louie who are both songwriters. From a very young age, it’s clear that Billie had musical talent because she has been playing piano since she was six years old. In 2004, her parents decided to put her on the show America’s Got Talent.
Billie Eilish attended the Laurel Springs School in Ojai, California from 2013 to 2017. From there she studied at a high school near her home and online for one year before attending an elite girls’ boarding school called The Iron Yard. She graduated from this program on May 12th, 2018 with what would become her debut album “When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?”
What does Billie Eilish think of her own musical style or genre?
It is hard to pin down what category this 20-year-old artist belongs to. She has been called everything from pop, punk, and alternative rock as well as folk indie hip hop.
As mentioned Bellie’s music genre is classified as pop or dark pop or emo punk or dark pop so let’s just say that her music genre basically falls into pop and according to The Baffler her genre is streambait and it also says that she is inspired or influenced by Lana Del Rey and as Lana’s songs or singing styles are influenced by hip-hop music so we can also say that Billie is inspired by hip-hop music as well.
Even though we say that Billie’s music genre falls into pop it is not as simple as that because Billie does not limit herself to just one genre, surely we can say that most of her music falls into the pop genre and she mostly writes dark lyrics or her music is mostly darker similar to late rapper XXXTentacion and Halsey.
Billie’s music genre falls into these categories Alternative Rock, this music category came in the 1970s and you can find this music category in Billie’s music and if you’re not sure what kind of music this is then you can listen to Linken Park and you will get a better idea of this music category.
We can also find Soft Rock music in Billie’s songs and in this music category singers rely on simple words but has great melody or music production, and we can all guess that Electronic Music or Bass are also used in her music.
And like I already mentioned her music or lyrics are dark and even if her genre falls into pop or rock most of her songs and music are really different than most of today’s pop or rock artists. We can also guess from her fashion style that she is into emo or goth and most of her music and lyrics are also darker and has a kind of sad, depressed, fear, or death vibe to it.
So what do you think about Billie’s definition of what genre she falls under? Do you agree with this classification or would you put a name on it yourself?
Her Singing Styles
As mentioned Billie is a pop and rock singer and she often sings in a nostalgic and soft tone with strong emotion of her lyrics and she also uses vibrato and airy falsetto but she does not overdo it but keeps as much as natural while singing.
If you have heard her song when the part’s over then you can hear her using a little bit of vibrato and airy falsetto and really her voice, as well as music, is really soothing and nostalgic.
How Good Singer is Billie Eilish?
Billie is a trained singer or maybe it’s better to say she’s a trained vocalist who can sing a high note and we can see that she can really control her breath to voice and pitch. If you don’t think that Billie is not a good singer then may god help you cause Billie is definitely one of the best singers or vocalists of this century.
But if you must know how good of a singer Billie really is then you can check her live singing videos on Youtube like this one where she sings a high tone song when the party’s over and just watch and see how beautifully she has done it.
