A Canadian television personality, businessman, and investor Robert Herjavec was born on September 14, 1962, in Varaždin, SR Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia. Until Herjavec was eight he lived in Zbjeg but when he was eight in 1970 his family left the country as his father spoke against the government authority. According to Herjavec his father would drink too much and speak against political ideology and he was sent to jail 22 times. They then lived in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, as per the reports they had one suitcase and a $20 while they moved and lived in a family friend’s basement.
There is no information on which high school he went to but for his further education, he went to New College at the University of Toronto and graduated with a degree in Political Science and English Literature. Herjavec worked as a third assistant director in various productions in The Return of Billy Jack and Cain and Abel and in the 1984 Winter Olympics, he was the field producer of Global TV. He then founded Canadian integrator of Internet security software from his home and called it BRAK systems and it was sold for $30.2 million to Allstream Inc. which was called AT&T Canada back then.
In 2003 he created or founded the Herjavec Group with three employees with $400,000 sales and today it is one of the fastest increasing technology companies in Canada with $200 million annual revenue.
He has also appeared on CBC TV series called Dragon’s Den, Shark Tank, and he won three Gemini Awards for taking part in the reality show Dragon’s Den. In 2013 he also give out awards at the Mr. Olympia contest and Creative Arts Emmy Awards. He also participated in the American version of Dancing with the Stars partnering with his future wife and got in sixth place.
