The Fast and the Furious, 2001

It is the first movie of the franchise where the FBI agent Brian O’Conner goes undercover and becomes friends with Domenic Toretto’s group as Toretto is one of the suspects in a big-rig hijacking but as much as Brian starts spending time with Dom and his crew he starts liking Dom and his attitude.

Turbo-Charged Prelude, 2003 (Optional)

This is a short movie with a duration time of only 6 minutes, it is kind of an introduction to the Fast franchise’s second film 2 Fast 2 Furious. In this short film, Brian O’Connor an ex- FBI agent is running from police because he helped Dom escape from getting into police custody.

As he is running from the police he starts participating in a different street race and after the police locate him and search his car he runs away and buys Nissan Skyline.

2 Fast 2 Furious, 2003

This is the sequel to the movie The Fast and the Furious and it was released on June 6, 2003, and it is considered the worst Fast movie. But we need to appreciate this movie as this is the movie that introduced us to one of the major characters of the franchise Tyrese Gibson as Roman Pearce and Ludacris as Tej Parker.

This is the only Fast franchise where we don’t get to see Vin Diesel‘s Dom. Paul Walker‘s Brian is the lead character of this movie and even though this sequel was and is considered the worst Fast movie, the franchise still found its way to survive and later become one of the best movie franchises.

Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, 2006

This is where most of the people get confused as the film introduces Sean Boswell who is a street racer who is about to go to jail but instead he decides to go to Japan and live with his father to avoid being imprisoned.

The film also introduces us to Han Lue who later dies in the movie. Just to clarify, this movie is all focused on Sean and does not feature any original characters including Dom, Brian, or Letty. Dom only shows up in the last scene of the movie.

Chronologically speaking it would be the sixth installment of the movie. As mentioned Han gets killed in this movie but the fans loved the character so much that the franchise later came up with an idea to bring him back. Talking about Han, there is also a movie called ‘Better Luck Tomorrow’ which was released on April 11, 2003, and it was directed by the same director who directed Tokyo Drift but the movie is not officially linked with the franchise but the movie also features the character of Han Lue.

Fast and Furious 4, 2009

This is the fourth sequel of the movie but still, it’s named Fast and Furious so it might get confused with the first original movie. Dom does not trust Brian because of what he did in the first movie but they have to trust each other and hold each other’s back in order to knock Arturo Braga, a drug dealer or importer.

Film’s budget was $85 million and at the box office it made $360.4 million so definitely, it was a big hit. Also, the movie introduces Gal Gadot‘s Gisele Yashar, Luke Evans‘ Owen Shaw, and Elsa Pataky‘s Elena.

Los Bandoleros, 2009 (Optional)

Los Bandoleros from Sonia Gonzalez-Martinez on Vimeo.

Just like Turbo-Charged Prelude, this is also a short movie that is only 20 minutes long so I am not going to explain anything about this one, you can just watch this or you can also skip this one like Turbo-Charged Prelude as it’s optional.

I will just like to say that even though it was released in 2009 this is the story before the beginning of the Fast and Furious, at least that’s what I think, and it also introduces us to Han Lue, Tego Leo, and Rico Santos. Also, this short movie is written and directed by Vin Diesel himself.

Fast Five, 2011

Dom along with Brian and Dom’s sister Mia is still wanted because Brian helped Dom escape the police custody along with his sister Mia. Now to get their freedom back they have to tackle a businessman as he wants to kill all of them.

The movie introduces us to a new character of Luke Hobbs portrayed by Dwyane Johnson and Hobbs has become one of the major characters of the franchise ever since. Luke Hobbs is a highly-skilled bounty hunter and best tracker who is set to hunt down every member of Dom and his team so Dom and Brian have to knock the businessman before Hobbs catch or hunts them down.

Fast & Furious 6, 2013

As mentioned above Luke Evans’ Owen Shaw was introduced in the fourth sequel of the movie and he is the antagonist of this movie. Now, Hobbs is also hunting down Owen Shaw but in order to take him down he needs help and he seeks the help of Dom and his team in exchange for their freedom.

The movie also features Dom’s girlfriend Letty who was shown killed in the Fast and Furious 4 but how is she still alive? And why has not she contacted Dom if she was alive this whole time? Watch the movie to find out.

Furious 7, 2015

As Dom and his team took down Owen Shaw, now his brother Deckard Shaw portrayed by Jason Statham is seeking revenge on Dom’s team. But that’s not the only story, remember that I mentioned Tokyo Drift is the sixth installment of the movie chronologically?

Well, this movie continues the story after the Tokyo Drift and Dom finds out that Deckard Shaw is the one who killed Han. The movie introduces another character called Mr. Nobody portrayed by Kurt Russell who offers Dom to get Decard if he joins him and helps him find God’s Eye, a hacking device which is created by another new character called Ramsey portrayed by Nathalie Emmanuel.

Sadly the actor who portrayed the character of Brian O’Conner, Paul Walker passed away in the middle of the film’s production so his brothers Cody and Caleb Walker were filmed with CGI so that they could finish shooting. The movie’s budget was $190 million and it made a total of $1.516 billion in the box office making it the 10th highest-grossing movie of all time.

The Fate of the Furious, 2017

In this movie, we see that Brian and Mia are now retired for good, Dom and Letty got married, and the rest of the crew also are living their dream life but later Dom switches sides with a woman named Cipher and betrays his family.

So why did Dom betray his family? Who is Cipher? and What is the reason behind Dom’s betrayal? Find the answer in the movie. It was released on April 12, 2017, and its budget was $250–270 million and it was a great hit as it made a total collection of $1.239 billion in the box office, making it the 20th highest-grossing movie of all time.

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw (Optional)

This movie does not have a connection to any of the Fast franchise’s movies at all but it features the character of the franchise Hobbs and Deckard Shaw. The movie introduces us to Shaw’s sister Hattie Shaw and Brixton Lore.

So there is a virus named snowflake and if it’s get leaked then half of the population on the earth will get destroyed so in order to stop Brixton who’s a human cyborg, trying to get his hands on the virus officer Hobbs and former British Special Forces’ agent Shaw must work together.

There is more to the film’s story and a lot more characters so better to watch the movie to find out more. The movie’s budget was $200 million and it collected $760 million at the box office. There will also be the sequel to this movie which was confirmed by Dwyane Johnson himself in 2020 but there is no news on when the movie will release.

F9, 2021

First, let me say that Luke Hobbs is not in this movie and I think it has something to do with the feud between Vin Diesel and Dwyane Johnson and it also has been confirmed that Dwyane will not be returning for Fast and Furious 10 as well.

The movie introduces us to the new character Jacob Toretto portrayed by John Cena and yes he is Dom’s brother but they don’t get along and you’ll know the reason why after watching the movie. So, Jacob is trying to get a device that can control all the satellites around the world, and even though Dom has retired to protect his son, he once again steps in because of his brother.

Obviously, there’s more than this in the movie but you will have to watch the movie to find out yourself by watching the movie. This is the movie where Han comes back and the movie also explains the backstory of what actually happened to Han and in the last scene of the movie all Dom and his family sits together but there is one empty chair left and after that, we see that a car approaches and it’s definitely Brian O’Conner.

Fast and Furious 10

It is the next installment of the movie and it is set to be released on May 19, 2023. We don’t know the story yet and we are not sure if we will get to see new characters or not but as mentioned above it’s been confirmed by Dwyane Johnson that he will not be returning in the movie, we hope that whatever’s going on with him and Vin ends quickly.

As for the antagonist, Cipher is still on the loose and there is a high chance that Cipher is going to be the antagonist of the movie. There is a high chance that they will bring Brian in this movie as the last scene of the F9 obviously hinted towards it so let’s wait and watch what happens.
