Many of you might remember the SNL star, Norm Macdonald who passed away at the age of 61 due to cancer on 14th September 2021. Norm was battling cancer for nine years and he was known for his dry and witty sense of humor.
He was also known for his style of deadpan humor and interjecting poetic, sometimes old-fashioned turns of phrase, as well as, for hosting SNL, and fans admired his celebrity impressions immensely. Many fans were sad and shocked to hear the news about his demise because he didn’t disclose his condition to the public.
But did you know that he has a son named Dylan Macdonald? Norm had welcomed his son with his ex-wife Connie Macdonald. Even though many people know about Norm, not many people know about his son Dylan. So, we will you everything you need to know about Dylan Macdonald in this article.
Dylan Macdonald followed in his father’s footsteps
Dylan Macdonald was born on 28th October 1992 as the son of Norm Macdonald and his ex-wife Connie Macdonald. He has managed to stay away from the media and not much is known about him. However, he had once appeared in a widely circulated video of The Tom Green Show, with his father.
In that show, Dylan appeared on-screen only briefly and Green told him, “Your father and I grew up maybe only 10 blocks away from each other.” Furthermore, a Reddit chain found a YouTube channel that featured Dylan and his friends in comedy sketches. The name of the channel is “3rd Triumvirate” and they used to upload Vine-worthy sketches and comedic videos over 6 years ago. The channel is pretty much dead as there have been no uploads since 2015.
It seems that he had tried to walk in his father’s footsteps. However, he has remained under the radar when it comes to his career and internet presence. The last time he ever updated his display picture on his Facebook account was nearly five years ago. Additionally, he is not available on other social media sites such as Instagram and Twitter.
Dylan’s parents have divorced
Norm Mcdonald was married to Connie Macdonald in 1988. They remained married for almost a decade but unfortunately, their relationship couldn’t last long as they called it quits in 1999.
However, the reason behind their divorce hasn’t been revealed yet. Dylan’s mother has remained away from the media’s radar during her marriage to the popular comedian. It is revealed that his mother is a family therapist by profession and lives in Los Angeles. Besides that nothing much is known about her.
She has got a LinkedIn profile from where we get to know that she got admitted to a local school in her locality for basic study and she had completed her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific Univerity in 1994. Talking about her age, she must be around 55-59 years at the present.
Dylan’s father doesn’t seem like he ever re-married following his divorce from Connie, even though he was extremely secretive about his personal life. That’s because he has never mentioned anything about his wife in his chat show appearances and stand-ups following his divorce.
But, it was reported that he had dated actress Elle Macpherson between 1997 and 1998 after his divorce from Connie. Unfortunately, not much is known about their relationship either.
Why didn’t Dylan’s father disclose his health condition to the public?
Norm Macdonald died from acute leukemia at the City of Hope National Medical Center in Duarte, California on 14th September 2021. He fought cancer for nine years until he lost the battle at the age of 61. His brother Neil had revealed that he didn’t disclose his condition to the public because it would affect the way he was perceived so he disclosed his diagnosis to only his family, agent, and producing partner.
Norm’s friend Hoekstra made a statement for Norm as he wrote, “He was most proud of his comedy. He never wanted the diagnosis to affect the way the audience or any of his loved ones saw him. Norm was a pure comic.”
Lots and lots of people have expressed their sorrow including comedians like Conan O’Brien, Dave Chappelle, Adam Sandler, David Letterman, Jay Leno, David Spade, Sarah Silverman, Artie Lange, Seth Rogen, Bob Saget, Jim Carrey, and many more.
Jimmy praised Norm by saying, “He’s just one of the greatest comedians ever, and, God, we’re going to miss him. He was a friend of the show — family, really, to us.”
James also commended the comedian for his bravery by saying, “Norm Macdonald passed away today, far too soon, after a nine-year battle with cancer; a battle Norm never told anybody about, because all Norm ever wanted to do was to make us laugh, and he was absolutely brilliant at it. There was nobody quite like him.”
