Kyler Cole Murray who is better and professionally known as Kyler Murray is an American football player who plays for the Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League. Kyler is only 1.78m tall but he has left an example that nothing matters if you have got talent and skills.
Kyler used to play football when he was in college for the Texas A&M Aggies and later he joined Oklahoma Sooners. His winning of the Heisman Trophy in 2018 distinguished him as the best college football player. Not only football but he also used to play baseball when he was in college. He insisted he wanted to play football, but the Oklahoma Athletics drafted him in the 2018 MLB draft. When he was selected as the Arizona Cardinals’ first pick at the 2019 Draft, he became the first player taken in both the MLB and NFL Drafts.
In this blog post, we will be focusing on Kyler’s personal life and especially we will try to give as much information as we could about his parents.
Kyler’s Father Kevin Murry Used to be a Football Player
Kyler was born on August 7, 1997, in Bedford, Texas, United States. He went to Allen High School in Allen, Texas, and after he graduated from there he went to join Texas A&M University.
Kyler’s father Kevin was also an American football quarterback just like his son Kyler and he used to play for Texas A&M University. It seems that Kyler’s got his talent from his father as his father also showed great talent and potential for both footballs as well as baseball. During the 1982 draft, the Milwaukee Brewers selected him in the 11th round. Before joining Texas A&M to concentrate on football, he spent one season with the Brewers’ rookie team.
He was a really good player and he was named a 2nd team All-American twice and according to the reports when he left Texas A&M University he was the most successful quarterback player in Texas A&M history. However, he was unable to secure an NFL contract due to a persistent knee injury. Before retiring, he spent a short time with the San Francisco 49ers and the Calgary Stampeders.
Kevin is now a football coach at high school and we can say that Kyler was really lucky to have him as it is his father who made him capable. The star quarterback of the NFL revealed to the NFL Scouting Combine that Kevin taught him the fundamentals of the game.
“I learned to throw the ball from him when I was a 7-year-old. If he hadn’t taught me the game of football, I would not be here today.” Kyler said.
Kyler’s father only visited his college games few times and when he did he did not face any camera as Kevin says that all of his work stays behind the scene and he does not have any interest to show up in front of the camera sharing the spotlight with his son.
As per the reports, the head coach of the Texas A&M Aggies Jackie Sherrill advice Kevin to show public support more often but Kevin refused to do so.
“I told him that his kid would be happy to see his dad when he comes off the field. He told me that he knows what our relationship is like.” Jackie told USA Today.
Kyler’s mother is a Korean
Many people get shocked upon knowing that Kyler’s mother is Korean, but if you are a true fan of football and especially Kyler then you must know that Kyler often shows gratitude to his Korean roots. Kyler was also seen wearing a black dragon printed kimono case or jacket and according to his Korean mother Misun, he purposely choose that jacket to show how much he loves his mother’s culture and traditions.
“Our first reaction when we saw the jacket was, “We have to have it”. As Asians, we pride ourselves on representing our culture. A subtle statement like that sometimes comes across as a strong one, but it’s awesome,” Misun said to ASAMNews.
