Many of us know the answer to whether Wolverine is a Marvel character or DC but still there are few people who are curious and don’t know if Marvel owns Wolverine or DC so in this piece of article we will talk about the origin of Wolverine and also we will clear to which publishing company he belongs to.
Is Wolverine Marvel or DC?
Wolverine is undoubtedly a Marvel character from Marvel comics and this character was created by Roy Thomas, Len Wein, and John Romita Sr. Before having his own big role or comic series he first appeared in The Incredible Hulk #180.
He then joined the group of superheroes called X-men and ever since he was introduced in the comics people have loved and still love him. There are also a series of movies about Wolverine and X-men.
Origin of Wolverine
Wolverine was born James Howlett to a wealthy family, John and Elizabeth Howlett were his parents and he was born around the 19th century but he was weak and sick. One day James’ father gets shot by his groundskeeper, seeing that James gets furious and it triggers his mutant ability.
He kills their groundskeeper Thomas Logan with his bone claw but later Thomas reveals that James’ real father is him. Soon after that, he leaves his hometown with his friend Rose O’Hara (Please note that I am talking about comics, not the movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine).
I’ll skip all the details for now and focus only on his origin story, so after leaving his hometown with Rose they start to live together and Rose also gives him the name “Logan.” He becomes more powerful and aggressive so he starts to take part in cage fights and that’s where gets his nickname “Wolverine.”
How Did He Get Adamantium Claws?
Logan kills his friend Rose accidentally he starts to take part in most big or main disputes or wars including World War I, World War II, the Vietnam War, and the Spanish Civil War. After a while, he gets taken by Weapon X which is a group of Canadian super soldiers.
Weapon X was trying to experiment with something and because of Logan’s fast healing and tolerance ability, he becomes one of the important nominees. They then start their experiment and Doctor Cornelius and his team blend adamantium in his every bone.

Their experiment becomes successful and naturally, Logan becomes more powerful than he was and he also gets control over his aggressiveness. His remaining memories get wiped out and Weapon X starts using him for slaying people and they also send him to fight Hulk when Hulk bungle into the region or area of Canada.
But after a while, he gets freed from his detainers and his rage falls upon them and as a result, most of the people at the Weapon X facility get killed by the Wolverine.
