The main plot of this novel is that it reimagines the mysterious and unexplained disappearance of the popular writer Agatha Christie in 1926. The story of this novel is based on Christie, her husband Archie, and Nan O’Dea, mistress of her husband. We see the story from Nan’s pov so you will see her narrating many of the chapters.

The writer of the novel Nina pictures Nan to be an Irish woman and she learned what we today know as the British accent to try to seduce Mr. Christie and tempt him to get married.

The author has also explained the back story of Nan where we get to know that when Nan was 19 years old she fell in love with Finnbar. She met this guy for the first time during World War I. However, because of the various reasons they had to part ways. Since the novel’s genre is mystery drama, certainly this is not only about love or romance there is also a mystery.

What is someone willing to do for love? What motivates someone to commit murder? These are a few questions that Nina’s brilliant novel will answer. Truly, this book has some twists that you will not even expect it really is smart so if you have not read the book already then I suggest you read the book.

Is the Christie Affair a True Story

As mentioned above no, Christie Affair is not a true story but it is completely fictionalized. The main character of this novel is Nan O’Dea, mistress of Christie’s husband Archie, and her character itself seems to be imaginary. Furthermore, the story also revolves around the disappearance or abduction of Agatha Christie in 1926 which confuses readers, and they think that it was a real story.

However, that is not the case because all the backstory is based on a complete imagination of Nina and it does not have any relation to nobody. But isn’t it interesting that the author decided to focus the story on Archie’s mistress?

Who is Nina De Gramont?

Nina De Gramont is undoubtedly a smart and professional writer and she is also a professor of Creative Writing at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. She was born in Englewood, New Jersey, United States. People also know her by the name “Marina Gessner” she is married to David Gessner and they live in coastal North Carolina. As per the reports, Nina’s husband David is also a writer.

Nina is known for various novels like Every Little Thing in the World, The Distance from Me to You, Gossip of the Starlings, The Last September, Meet Me at the River, The Boy I Love, and more. Her novel “The Distance from Me to You” has been optioned for a movie and sources say that the movie is in production.

Who is Agatha Christie?

Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie was an English writer and she is known for her 66 detective novels and short stories. Guinness World Records has listed her as the best-selling fiction writer of all time because over two billion copies have been sold of her novels.

She was born on 15 September 1890, in Torquay, Devon, England, into a wealthy upper-middle-class family. It is said that she was home-schooled. Just like most people, she did not get successful immediately after she started writing, she was a failure and was rejected six times. However, in 1920 everything changed after she wrote “The Mysterious Affair at Styles”

She was married to Archibald Christie in 1914 and they had one child. Christie and her husband got divorced in 1928. After her divorce, she married Max Mallowan, an archaeologist who was 13 years younger than her. Her novel “And Then There Were None” was sold an estimated 100 million copies and is one of the top-selling books of all time. She is also the first receiver of the Mystery Writers of America’s Grand Master Award which she received in 1955. She died at the age of 85 peacefully on January 12, 1976.
