Amber Heard is currently trending on social media due to Johny Depps defamation case against her. Their personal lives have been put under the microscope and their intimate and embarrassing details as the star duo have been revealed to millions of people on the internet. Amber’s past relationships were also revealed in the court making fans interested in her sexuality as she had been with another woman in the past.

Amber Heard is constantly on the media, actively speaking about her life as she is an ambassador for women’s rights at the American Civil Liberties Union. She claimed that she was a victim of domestic violence in an op-ed she published in the Washington Post in 2018. The headline of the op-ed is “Amber Heard: I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change.”

As we can see from the title of the op-ed, she claimed that she was a victim of domestic violence. The judge has also agreed after Deep and his lawyers argued that she is clearly implying that Depp abused her over the course of their year-long marriage. Furthermore, it was not her first time accusing Johhny of Domestic violence as she has publically accused Johnny after filing for divorce in 2016.

However, we won’t be talking about the case rather we will be discussing her sexuality as we’ve known for over a decade that Amber’s bisexual, and she’s dated both men and women.

Amber came out as bisexual despite being raised in a religious home

Amber wrote an op-ed on Teen Vogue where she wrote about what bisexual people, pansexual people, and all of us have at stake before the court. She also wrote that she knew early on that she wasn’t straight. Amber also wrote that she grew up in small-town Texas and she didn’t know anyone who was openly queer, so she had no idea how to make sense of my feelings.

She moved from Texas to Hollywood and fell in love with a woman at the same time her name was becoming known. As she was getting quite famous she could no longer hide the truth from her family following decades of being closeted. She said that her religious family struggled to process the revelation that she was bisexual.

In March 2019, She spoke at the Making Change On and Off the Screen panel at SXSW Saturday, and explained that she was raised in a religious home and her parents were unable to process that her sexuality could be viewed outside a “binary system” if positive and negative.

Additionally, she said,  “And being an outspoken lesbian, atheist, vegetarian, I remember when I told them about my relationship, that I was in love with this woman, and at the beginning of that it was just tears, tears.”

She described her father as a hat-wearing, mustached, and gun-loving good Southern man and said that it took some time for her family to come to terms with Amber’s sexuality. However, her family learned to love her regardless of her sexuality after some time.

“Five years later, I was getting an award, and I asked my parents to drive out to Dallas. And I see them sitting front and center and here I am getting this ‘gay’ award… My parents in five years, look at the journey. Attitudes and hearts can change,” she added.

Amber Heard

Amber Heard experienced discrimination due to her sexuality

Amber said that she felt pressure to remain closeted after arriving in Hollywood. She desired to live openly but few people who knew about her sexuality told her to keep it a secret. Ultimately, she opened up about her bisexuality during the GLAAD event.

She told the Times of London in June 2015 that she doesn’t want to have to deny her sexuality in order to be herself. She was well aware that the revelation would affect her career but came out regardless.

Amber did an interview with After Ellen at The Economists Pride and Prejudice in 2017. In the interview, she said, “I just answered honestly. I could tell by the look on this person’s face it was a big deal. My poor publicist. Then I realized the gravity of what I had done and why so many people—studio execs, agents, advisers—did not want this coming before my name. I became attached to a label. I’ve never seen myself defined by the person I’m with.”

Soon, she would find that the discrimination extended beyond Hollywood and California. She wrote her experience with her former wife on Teen Vogue that reads “In one state, we were refused housing. In another state, we were asked to leave a restaurant. We were once even harassed by law enforcement who learned we shared a last name.”

Talking about harassment, she wrote, “Sometimes even walking around Los Angeles came with verbal harassment. My former wife and I were spat on once. Another time, someone threw an empty cup at us. For many transgender people, particularly black and brown trans women, this type of harassment often leads to violence and death.”

She also wrote that LGBTQ+ people deserve a government that protects them and sends the message that they are not broken because they are not and they are just beautiful and have rights. Furthermore, she said that this is about more than laws-this is about what our country believes about our basic humanity.

Amber also said that gay Hollywood men could contribute to the fight for quality by simply owning their sexualities as she believed that if every gay man that she knows personally in Hollywood came out tomorrow, then that would be a nuisance in a month.

Amber and Tasya Van Ree

Amber Heard’s relationships explored

In the past, Amber Heard was in a relationship with Tasya Van Ree as she had referred to Tasya as her wife and changed her last name to Van Ree. However, there’s no evidence that the pair were formally married. Later, Amber was arrested in Washington state for allegedly grabbing Van Ree and hitting her arm. But the authorities didn’t charge her with misdemeanor and domestic violence in 2019.

Unfortunately, their relationship couldn’t last long as they decided to split in 2012. As a result, Amber dropped the last name Van Ree in 2014. Tasya finally opened up about Amber’s accusation in 2016 and told Us Weekly that Amber was wrongfully accused during the 2009 incident.

She said, “Amber was wrongfully accused for an incident that was misinterpreted and over-sensationalized by two individuals in a power position. I recount hints of misogynistic attitudes toward us which later appeared to be homophobic when they found out we were domestic partners and not just ‘friends.’ Charges were quickly dropped and she was released moments later.”

Van Ree added, “It’s disheartening that Amber’s integrity and story are being questioned yet again. Amber is a brilliant, honest, and beautiful woman and I have the utmost respect for her. We shared 5 wonderful years together and remain close to this day.”

In the year 2020, Amber was linked with Bianca Butti after they were spotted packing on the PDA. A source revealed at the time, “Amber is not trying to be low-key about it. She feels comfortable kissing Bianca and holding her hands in public at this point. They started as friends and it turned into something more.” Additionally, they were once again spotted grocery shopping and quarantined together at Amber’s residence. But it seems that their relationship had completely fizzled out.

Amber Heard & Elon Musk

If you have watched the defamation trial then by this point you must already know quite a lot about her relationship with Johnny Depp. So, we won’t be discussing her relationship with Johnny in this article as it is currently being discussed in court.

It has been revealed that Amber had started dating Elon Musk after splitting from Johnny. They dated for a year and were spotted multiple times spending time together. The couple had made their relationship public in 2017 but they briefly parted ways after being apart for five months. However, they decided to give it another shot at their relationship and were seen having a good time for some time.

A source confirmed to Us Weekly, that Amber and Elon had split for good in February 2018. Some months later both of them addressed their decision to Us Weekly. They told, “We would like to speak for ourselves. The distance has been really tough on our relationship because we haven’t been able to see each other much. All relationships have their ups and downs, of course.”

Additionally, they said, “We would like to state directly that we have the utmost respect for one another, and it would be troubling if anyone had the impression that we thought otherwise. As a closing note, it is worth bearing in mind that events are always amplified and dramatized in a high-profile relationship, whether the people involved like it or not (and we definitely don’t). The reality is that this is just a normal relationship with a giant magnifying glass applied.”

Recently, Amber heard had been linked with “It” director Andy Muschietti after they were spotted kissing each other in mid-March 2019. They were also seen holding several party supplies as they headed into a friend’s house and Andy was seen holding Amber’s puppy in one hand and wine bottles in the other.
