Floyd Mayweather is a boxing legend who has won world titles in five different weight classes and amassed an unfathomable fortune. He has been nicknamed “Money” and is one of the wealthiest athletes in modern sports. He also owns a lot of cars. Today, we are taking a look at his impressive car collection but before that let us take a brief look at his early life and boxing career.
Floyd Mayweather was born on February 24, 1977 to a single mother who died six months after he was born. His father had left before his birth and never made contact with him. He grew up living in poverty with an older brother named Jeffie as well as their grandmother and uncle.
At age 12, he got into trouble for shooting at someone from close range but luckily did not hit anyone. The incident would ultimately get him kicked out of school while also scaring away potential foster parents that were waiting to take care of him following his grandmother’s death two years later when he turned 18 years old because they feared he could do something similar again.
In 1992, he had his first amateur bout but lost to Carlos Hines. It was not until 1996 that he began hitting the boxing scene with a win in four fights and then proceeded to go on an unbeaten streak of 18 wins before finally losing for the first time against Gregorz Proksa at age 27 years old.
He went pro after this defeat and won his next nine matches which included two world titles by 2001. From 2002 onward, he never lost another match while also garnering five more world championships as well as becoming one of few boxers who achieved 50 victories without suffering any losses or draws along the way.”
His final record stood at 49-0 when he retired from boxing in 2015.
Floyd Mayweather’s car collection
Floyd Mayweather’s car collection is one of the most expensive in the world. He has a total of 12 cars which are worth over $25 million dollars combined. The list includes, but is not limited to:
Porsche 911 GT Carrera S ($130k)
Ferrari 458 Italia Spider ($260K)
Bentley GTC Convertible Speed (sold for $325K).
His collection also includes Rolls Royce Ghost, Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse convertible and Ford F150 Raptor.
In addition to his car collection, he loves jewelry too! He owns about 100 pieces – including diamond watches that cost more than half of what his cars do!
Why does he collect cars?
Floyd likes to collect cars because he is a car fanatic.
He loves the thrill of driving and has been racing cars since he was only 16 years old. In 2006, Floyd invested in several luxury sportscar dealerships which now bear his name: Mayweather Auto Group.
Floyd doesn’t want just any old vehicle; it must be fast! He needs a reliable car that can handle high-performance driving. For example, Floyd drives an Audi RS Q which cost him around $150K new. And when he isn’t racing in exotic places like Dubai, Tokyo or London – where you’ll find him doing 0-60 mph sprints with professional drivers as passengers – he’s out on the streets of Las Vegas, driving around with his buddies.
What is Floyd’s favorite car?
Floyd’s favorite car is the Ferrari 458 Italia Spider.
He has been spotted driving in his cars to training and on the streets of LA – but is not careful about parking them, so he usually gets a ticket every six months or so (he’s accumulated more than $300K worth). He also loves taking his car out for spins at top speeds!
Are the cars in his collection investments?
No, Floyd just likes to collect car, its not an investment for him. In his interview with CNBC, Floyd was asked about the future of self-driving cars. He said that he doesn’t want a car without a steering wheel or pedals because he likes driving too much. When asked if this is an investment for him, he responded “it’s not an investment at all” and then laughed before continuing on to say something else inaudible.
Worth of his collection
As we said, his collection’s worth exceeds 12 million dollars. In addition, Floyd also has a personal garage where he keeps all of his cars. One of the most popular is a Bugatti Veyron, worth about $700K. He also has an outrageous yellow Lamborghini Aventador. It’s one of only 400 made in this color and it costs around $500k
His other collection includes: Mercedes SLS AMG GT, Ferrari F430 Spider, Dodge Challenger Hellcat Redeye (his latest purchase), McLaren MPC 570s LM Edition, Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe Drophead Coupe Ghost Series II EWB edition
Floyd likes to show off on social media – he posts videos of him driving his cars on Instagram and YouTube regularly. He says that when you’re rich like him “you have to flaunt it.”
